UNIVERSITY OPENS NEW YORK OFFICE

University opens New York office

The University of Haifa is renewing its presence in New York and the Northeastern United States. The decision to open the office, now reorganized and renamed, was announced by University President Hayuth in August.

The New York office of the American Society University of Haifa officially opens on September 1, 1996. Joel L. Leibowitz will serve as Executive Vice President of the Society.
I am very excited about the wonderful opportunities for growth that Joel and this office bring to the Friends Association, said Ms. Yael Metser, the University’s Vice President for Development.

The American Society University of Haifa will work to gain support for the activities of the University through faculty and student-exchange programs, public relations, and development.

Leibowitz comes to his new position with a rich background in American Jewish and Israel-related activism and fundraising. He has served as National Vice-Chairman of the United Jewish Appeal, and is a former member of the UJA National Young Leadership Cabinet. He was appointed by the Governor of New Jersey to the New Jersey-Israel Commission and is a member of the Board of Directors of the United Jewish Federation of MetroWest in New Jersey. He has also led more than 50 missions to Israel and the former Soviet Union.
