Vice President for
Resource Development

The Executive Committee of the University has appointed Mrs. Yael Metser vice president for public relations and resource development. She is the first woman to be appointed to the vice presidency at the University and one of the few women to occupy an administrative position at this top level in the Israeli higher education system.
She will be responsible for the University’s world-wide fund-raising and public relations activities.

Metser, 49, has made a career of the University, from student to a series of positions with increasing responsibility. Prior to the new appointment, she had served since 1993 as executive vice chair of the Board of Governors charged with developing the University’s fund-raising apparatus and network of Friends abroad.
Her new position will enable her to expand these efforts. The University is now completing construction of one of the largest buildings on any Israeli campus (see separate story) and implementing other projects in its new master plan for the Mount Carmel campus. In the first half of the decade, the University’s student body nearly doubled, necessitating the present accelerated physical development.
From 1986-1993, Metser served as head of the University’s Division of Public Affairs and Information. Other positions she has held include executive assistant to the University president, academic appointments and promotion officer, and manager of the then-director-general’s office.

Metser is married and has a son studying toward his B.A. and a daughter in her first year of army service.
