Gil Weiser Elected to 3rd Term as Exec. Committee Chairman
 

The Board of Governors, accepting the recommendation of its Executive Committee and Steering Committee, voted unanimously to give Gil Weiser a third term as Chairman of the Executive Committee at the Board’s 31st Meeting in May.

        Weiser, who had served as president and CEO of Fibronics International and general manager of Hewlett Packard (HP) Israel , runs his own management, consulting, and operations firm, Weiser Ventures.   The Committee, which has been meeting monthly under Weiser’s stewardship, is responsible for the overall supervision and direction of the University in between Board meetings.

        A graduate of the Technion and the University of Minnesota , he has been involved in the high-tech environment, from design engineer to the top spot, for the past thirty years.  For a twenty-year stretch from the early seventies to the early nineties, he headed Digital Israel.

        Weiser has also been active in the public sphere, serving as a director of the Israel Stock Exchange, head of the Operational Board of the friends of a vocational high school; vice chairman of the Israeli Management Center, chairman of the Multinational Companies Forum, and past member of the Young Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra Board.  

        He was first elected to chair the University’s Executive Committee in 1993.
