The Senate of the University of Haifa elected Prof. David Faraggi to serve as Rector of the University.
Prof. Faraggi is a graduate of the Hebrew University in economics and statistics (1980), he earned his doctorate
at the University of Wisconsin at Madison (1984). He carried out post-doctorate work in the Department of Biostatistics at Harvard University’s School of Public Health. In 1988 Prof. Faraggi joined the University faculty and set up the Statistics Consulting Unit, which he still heads.
Professor Faraggi’s areas of expertise in statistics involve developing statistical methods and
a methodology for medical and biological applications and the development of models for neural networks in the analysis of survival.
He has published more than 70 articles in scientific journals.
Prof. Faraggi served as Vice Rector of the University of Haifa (2004-2010).Among the positions held by Prof. Faraggi at the University: member of the Graduate Studies Council, member of the University Senate and the Appointments and Promotions Committee, Chairman of the Department of Statistics, and head of the University of Haifa Data Archive. He serves as University representative on the Public Council for Statistics.
