Bioinformatics is a new field, acquiring an ever increasing part in modern research and industrial areas. The amount of new biological data, accumulating at incredible pace and the impressive development in Biotechnology, have posed new challenges for science and industry. These challenges raised the necessity of using novel tools beyond the traditional biological tools used so far, and gave birth to a new scientific area aimed at coping with the enormous quantities of new data -- Bioinformatics. This area have bridged between exact sciences such as mathematics, statistics, computer science, and life and natural sciences and have influenced both disciplines substantially.
The University of Haifa hosts leading scientists in the field of Bioinformatics specializing in Evolution. In light of the above, we are delighted to announce about a new graduate program of Bioinformatics with evolutionary emphasis. The program is run by the Department of Evolutionary and Environmental Biology and the Institute of Evolution, in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science at the University of Haifa.
