University of Haifa's Dance Theatre company, founded by students of Ethiopian origins

For Eskesta's first program (1996):

Music: Zena Adhneni (acting major, Department of Theatre)
Costumes: Tal Itzhaki
Lighting: Yehiel Orgal

For Eskesta's second program: Maharu ("In Memoriam") (1998),

inspired by the Ethiopian-Jewish community's long walk in the Sudan desert on their way to Israel:

Pruduction manager: Yael Hasson-Tirosh

Eskesta dance company originated in Ruth Eshel's dance class on the first year of the Department of Theatre's existence. For an initial impression of Eskesta's first days, see article in focus, spring 1996 issue. Since its establishment, the group has performed all over Israel, as well as in Paris, Ethiopia, Eritrea, and the Ravenna Festival in Italy.
