NOTES FOR CONTRIBUTORS
is published annually and is a fully refereed publication. The
deadline for submissions
for Vol. 4 (1998) is 31st May, 1998. However, contributors are
encouraged to submit
papers at the earliest possible date so that full consideration may be
given to them.
Copyright and Permissions
Submission of a paper will be taken to imply that it represents original
previously published, nor currently being considered for publication
if accepted for publication by JTD
, it will not be published elsewhere without the consent of the editor.
The author will be responsible for obtaining all necessary permissions to
in the paper items such as quotations, figures, tables, photographs, etc.
Papers are accepted only in English, and will, if accepted, be altered to
to British spelling. Authors whose mother tongue is not English are
to have their papers reviewed or edited by a fluent English speaker, as
cannot be responsible for correcting bad English grammar, spelling or
Disks and Manuscripts
Papers should be word processed, preferably using WORD for Windows. Two
manuscripts and two copies of illustrations, figures or tables, etc.,
should be submitted,
together with the disk from which these manuscripts were printed.
The manuscript should be printed directly from the disk submitted, in
order to ensure
that the manuscript is identical to the disk file.
The disk should be labelled with the name of the author(s), the word
used, and the file name of the paper;
Please place the disk between cardboard and enclose it in a separate
send it with the manuscript.
: The first page of the manuscript should contain
1. The title of the paper;
2. The name(s) of the author(s);
3. The names of the department and of the institution where the

: All headings in the text should be set to the left margin, with the

Except for the title page, and page 1 of the manuscript, the author's

New paragraphs should be indented, not

Quotation marks should be placed around quotations or titles of articles,

Lengthier quotations should be indented, and should follow without a line
text and quotation. After the quotation, place the reference (title of
numbers, etc.) in parentheses and set to the right margin. Then leave one
before resuming the text.
All figures should be numbered with consecutive arabic numerals, have
captions and be referred to in the text. Figures should be kept separate
text, but an approximate position for each figure should be indicated in
of each submitted manuscript. Please note that it is the author's
responsibility to obtain
necessary permission for all reproductions.
Photographs must be good glossy original prints of good definition and

Each figure should be labelled on the reverse with the author's name, the

Endnotes should be indicated in the text by superior
arabic numerals without parentheses.
The contents of the endnotes should be collected at the end of the paper,
heading NOTES. These NOTES should precede the WORKS CITED section of the

References should be indicated in the text by the name and date system;
either "Recent work (Smith & Jones, 1995)..." or "Recently Smith
& Jones (1995)...".
If reference is made to more than one publication by the same author(s)
in the same
year, distinguish among these by adding a, b, c, etc. to both the
citation in the
text, and in the list of WORKS CITED (e.g., "Smith & Jones, 1995a").
References should be collected and typed in alphabetical order under the
CITED, which should be placed after the NOTES section.
Authors should check that all reference details are correct and complete.
