Gila Lahat graduated from the art department of Seminar Hakibbutzim, Tel Aviv, and had a few exhibitions of her works of painting and etching. Between 1960-65 she worked and researched in the field of therapy for the blind. Since 1970 she works at The Haifa Municipal Theatre, where she is in charge of the theatre's wardrobe and a chief costume designer. Among other shows, she has designed costumes for Asinaria, The Helper, Dom Juan, Ya'ir, Six Characters in Search of an Author, Twins, Hedda Gabler , A Streetcar Named Desire, Guys and Dolls, Talks With My Father, Games in the Backyard, A Night in May, Night Babies, and many others, for both Haifa and other Israeli theatres. At the University of Haifa she designed costumes for The Crucible, Ouri, 50 Years Old, and Twelfth Night. Lahat has taught costume design at Seminar Hakibbutzim, and in the Shenkar College of design.
