David Maayan studied directing at the Department of Theatre Arts,
Tel Aviv University. At the first Akko
Theatre (1980) organized a group and produced Alterman's The Ghosts
Inn, which received the first prize that year. He founded The Theatre
Centre, Akko, where he has directed his much praised, five-hour production
of Arbeit macht frei
vom Toitland Europa, shown extensively in Akko and international

ongoing with his group based in Kibbutz Kabri.
